Lucky Girls
(NEW YORK) Lucky magazine's editor in chief Kim France knows exactly how to describe the style of creative director Andrea Linett: "Kim tells me I'm exactly in the middle of rock and roll and bohemian!" Linett said Monday night at the Bowery Hotel, where France, Linett and their fans (including France's mother!) gathered to celebrate the publication of The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style. How can France be so sure? Well, the Lucky ladies broke the styles down to ten iconic looks that they outlined in the book, from California casual to bombshell to mod to--of course--rock and roll and bohemian.
Chicettes like Joy Bryant, Charlotte Ronson, Carla Gugino, Rebecca Taylor, Dana Foley and Anna Corinna mingled on the Bowery Terrace, snacking on mini crab cakes and sipping cocktails while a DJ spun in the corner. Stacks of the new tome (each cover showed a different fabulous coat) sat on tables and bars, and guests browsed for their own styles. "We wanted to do something that was really distinctive from the first book," said France. "We thought about the fact that there were these 10 iconic styles that kept influencing the way women dress and that showed up again and again on the runway." So which style is France, then? She couldn't put her finger on just one, but counted American classic and arty slick as influences. So many chic styles-we should all be so Lucky.
