Veruschka!
(NEW YORK) Fashion fans from Diane von Furstenberg to Agyness Deyn gathered Friday night on the MINI Rooftop to celebrate a veritable legend: model Veruschka, who spent the evening chatting with old friends and signing her gorgeous new eponymous Assouline book. Rain was threatening, but the weather stayed perfect for the party-a testament to Veruschka herself, who at 69 years old looked flawless. Her secret: "To feel well in your skin, to be in good health inside and outside," she said. "There are no miracle creams!" And though she was wearing all clothes that she'd designed herself over the years (other than a hat that she found "in Berlin in a beautiful store"), she told The Daily that fashion is just not on her radar anymore. "I'm leaving on Monday!" she said when asked if she'd be making appearances at the Tents this week. "You know, I'm so busy now preparing exhibitions of my artwork, I don't look at fashion, I don't get into fashion."
That doesn't stop the fashion industry from being fascinated by her, however; DvF took time out from her pre-show preparations to join the party and chat with her friends, Prosper and Martine Assouline. "I know Veruschka, I've known her for a long time," the designer said. "I've always admired her so much." As for what we can look forward to at her show this week, she dished: "It's called Rock Goddess," she said. "It's the fantasy of every woman, to have the power of a goddess and the attitude of a rock star." Sounds a bit like Veruschka herself, no?
