MINI's Electric Feel

MGMT kicks off the MINI Cooper rooftop series

(NEW YORK) It was like Woodstock all over again as guests took seats on the giant grassy knoll in the center of the MINI Cooper rooftop for the Dazed and Confused-hosted kick-off event for Fashion Week Thursday night on 10th Avenue and 36th St. Gossip girls, models, editors and singers headed to the West Side for the event, with a slew of MINI Coopers greeting them at arrival. "I got to drive in a cool MINI Cooper," exclaimed Jessica Szohr. "I'm a huge fan of MGMT, though. It's been a huge summer thing for me. 'Elecric Feel' has been on repeat as my summer song." She wasn't the only to count the band's hit as their favorite, as Nicole Fiscella, Solange Knowles and Jessica Stam admitted to the same.

Fiscella's on her third season of Fashion Weeks, and clearly has the events planned to a science. "I plan my big meal at 3 since most of my stuff is in the evening. I eat a lot because that's important. Then of course, checking out all the outfits that I'm going to wear to the shows, making sure everything fits and doing a trial run." Meanwhile, Szohr is keeping her diet in check and in order by sticking to the Blueprint cleanse. "I'm on day one and I can't wait for that almond drink!" she exclaimed, while sipping the green cucumber one.

Surprisingly, many fashion insiders were keen on sitting on the (real) grass of the grassy knoll; Mary-Kate Olsen plopped down first, arriving only a half hour into the event and refusing to move for the rest of the night. Stam climbed up the knoll to the top for her view of MGMT and their after-band DJ Diplo, and is already looking forward to after New York Fashion Week. "I'm just looking forward to going to Paris. I haven't been in a while. It's still the beginning, so I don't know which shows I'll be walking in, but I'm looking forward to Catherine Holstein, Alex Wang, and Charlotte Ronson. I'm going to watch that one!" The sloped hill seemed treacherous for those who had a few too many cocktails, so Fiscella had her own solution. "Alcohol and rooftops are not a good thing. I'm sticking to water!"

Solange Knowles showed up with Cassie and ?uestLove (of the Roots) during the third song by MGMT, exclaiming, "I am obsessed with MGMT. I am like drooling over them!"

While Knowles was drooling over the band, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and her boyfriend Magnus Berger plopped down on the hill as well. "You know that big pool in Brooklyn? I saw them there. I listen to them a lot! I like this little spaceship installation," she said. "But I'm looking forward to my boyfriend's magazine launch!"
