Bon Champ!

Longchamp celebrates 60 years of chic-dom at Soho flagship
Tuesday, July 15, 2008

(NEW YORK) It was a veritable fashion series face-off last night at Longchamp's 60th Anniversary celebration when chicettes from Lipstick Jungle and Gossip Girl descended on the SoHo boutique. Brooke Shields and Lindsay Price hugged for the cameras while Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr, and Nicole Fiscella took their own personal pics--causing photographers to snap a barrage of proper paparazzi shots. Ah, to live, to laugh, to...pose! But it was nothing but love between the two casts as they chatted in the balmy VIP section on the store's terrace overlooking Spring Street amidst rounds of Pop champagne with some mini bottles featuring artwork from Jean-Luc Moerman's installations on the walls.

Produced in collaboration with Deitch Projects, Moerman's swirling designs were also made into bright temporary tattoos that quickly started popping up on a slew of guests. But Julianne Moore had her eye on the Moerman Originals Collection bags lining the walls. "I can't decide. I like the blue one and the green one," she said pointing to her favorites. "I wear turquoise in the summer, though." And unlike many of her jet-set counter parts, Moore has been spending a laid-back summer in her 800 sq-ft beach house with her kids but is hitting friend Leslie Fremar's new West Village showroom before heading back out to the Hamptons. "It looks great and it's a really cute space. It's going to be really good!"

As DJ Paul Sevigny spun for the crowd, Susan Sarandon made it a family affair with daughter Eva Amurri and a small white pup that perched on her lap for most of the evening. And it seemed apt for the French house that's kept the business all in the family for the past 60 years. Managing director Jean Cassegrain presided over the bubbly fête with his brother Olivier and sister Sophie Delafontaine. Guests like Coco Rocha and Diane Kruger personified summer chic--the latter wearing perhaps the best party look of the season. No doubt the company's come a long way since WWII, when the family tobacco store began covering its pipes in leather offering up luxury items for the Allied soldiers occupying Paris after France's liberation. Now it boasts 100 locations worldwide--with Kate Moss at the helm of its ad campaign.

The Gossip Girls lead the celeb chicette departures, but not before snapping a few last photos that had Meester sprinting out of the elevator-in towering Dior shoes, no less-to snuggle avec friends. Soon the crowd was slowly slipping out into the night, no doubt many heading to Sevigny's Beatrice Inn. N'est pas?
