MACKO MOMENTS!
(MILAN) Tuesday, June 24
Today is the last day of the Milan shows. We see Marni, John Varvatos, Dsquared, Fendi, Etro, D&G, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein Collection and Zegna, not to mention presentations by Bally, Tom Ford and Moncler...PLUS the opening of the new Trussardi boutique, a cocktail party hosted by Giorgio Armani and the Calvin Klein dinner to close fashion week.
Tyson Beckford opened and closed the Dsquared show, which was an homage to the birth of rap and the 1980s. Breakdancers and heavy gold chains galore! Dean and Dan Caten set the show in a classic barber shop complete with a linoleum runway! One of the best parts was meeting Jennifer and Michael Sletten, who won our Dsquared sweepstakes last year. We flew them to Milan, got them tickets to the show and took them backstage to meet the brothers. We're running a similar sweeps with John Galliano right now, so make sure you check it out on our Web site!
I sat with supermodel Gabriel Aubry at the Calvin Klein dinner at Ristorante Ricci, where across from us was Wilhelmina models head honcho Sean Patterson, who is currently on TV Land's hit show, She's Got The Look. Also at our table was the New York Times' Guy Trebay, David Farber from Men's Vogue and Out's Aaron Hicklin. I was talking with [Calvin Klein Collection men's designer] Italo Zucchelli about the two full on fluorescent suits he sent down the runway earlier (which was received with spontaneous applause). The requests for samples were so great that they see making three of each color!
Meanwhile, the Armani cocktail party, held in another beautiful palazzo on the Via Mozart from the 1930s called Villa Necchi Campiglio, had actor Adrien Brody and Clive Owen, as well as Maria and Bobby Shriver there to support Project Red. Their daughter Katherine was also on hand, in Milan to celebrate her recent graduation.
On to Paris!
