A Bash with Bubbles
(LOS ANGELES) As if L.A.'s fashion flock needed another reason to roam trendy Robertson Boulevard, 3.1 Phillip Lim has officially landed. The store opened on Thursday night with a starlet-filled bash hosted by Veuve Clicquot.
Emmy Rossum, Jennifer Morrison, Jessica Paster, James Patrick Herman, George Kotsiopoulos, Samantha Traina and Magda Berliner marveled at the futuristic design of the airy, all-white boutique. It carries the full assortment of women's, men's and children's wear, as well as all accessories and Lim's organic Go Green Go line.
"This store is the perfect layout for what I wanted to do. We weren't really looking, necessarily, but when I saw this space, I couldn't pass it up," explained Phillip Lim, who allocated just enough time--less than 48 hours, to be exact--to celebrate his West Coast venture. "I had to dive in heart-first. I hope it's well-received here; I poured my soul into it, and have been very involved from the beginning."
"I've known Phillip since before his Development days," Paster reminisced. "The store's very creative and the location is amazing--I mean, it's Robertson! You buy your Phillip Lim dress here, you run across the street for sushi and go up the block and grab a drink with the boys at The Abbey!"
Camilla Belle, who just finished filming a movie in Brazil, spent much of the evening lingering in the store's rear courtyard. "I'm so excited that Phillip decided to open a store in my hometown," the actress gushed. "I always had to go to New York, but now I can check out his stuff right here!"
Accompanied by fashionable friends, Kate Walsh divulged that several of Lim's chic designs caught her eye. "I love it all. There's not one ugly thing in here!" the Private Practice star laughed. "He's nailed that perfect blend of modern and feminine, and every piece has a little wink that makes it pop. His stuff has a high-sass level. I like it!"
Afterwards, the festivities moved onto the Bar Marmont, where Lim and his throngs, including Robbie Williams, continued the libations well into the night.
"I just met Phillip for the first time five minutes ago and now we're best friends!" joked Becki Newton, who twirled in an understated beaded cocktail dress on the bar's balcony. The actress is moving to New York this week to start production of Ugly Betty, where she hopes to see Lim again. "I'm keeping my eye out on all of the hot fashions coming through the front door," she giggled. "It's not people watching at this party, it's fashion watching!"
