A Fashion Friendship

Nicole Miller designs on-stage wardrobe for Cyndi Lauper's new tour

(NEW YORK) Nicole Miller didn't party too hard at Tuesday night's after party following the Sex and the City premiere--with good reason. The designer had a morning fitting with Cyndi Lauper the next day, as Miller is creating an exclusive wardrobe for the pop music icon to wear on her upcoming 24-city True Colors tour. It kicks off this weekend in Boston, Massachusetts, and ends in Morrison, Colorado, on July 5.

The garments, described by Miller as "a fusion of luxe, punk and androgyny," will be on full display during Lauper's performances. Using a palette of black, white, gray, fuchsia and gold, Miller created a wardrobe that ranges from menswear-inspired jackets, pants and shirts in bold stripes, solids and flowing shapes to more body conscious metallic color-beaded dresses.

"Cyndi is a great friend, a fun personality and has incredible energy on stage," said Miller. "Yet her songs, especially the new ones, are quite thoughtful and sophisticated. I've tried to reflect that duality in the clothes we have designed."

The concert dates coincide with the release of Lauper's new album, Bring Ya to the Brink, her tenth album. It features the first completely new material released since 2001.
