Hats off to Coach
(NEW YORK) To cap off a warm spring day, Coach president and executive creative director Reed Krakoff hosted a chic tea party Thursday afternoon at Norwood to celebrate his company's new hat collaboration designed with Eugenia Kim. "We wanted to work with someone we thought could bring a different point of view to the brand with flavor, expertise and talent," Krakoff said of the partnership.
The Chelsea locale served as the ideal setting to showcase the collaboration--a mix of elegance with feminine appeal. Fresh iced tea, sandwiches, strawberry biscuits, and cupcakes designed in Coach's signature colors delighted editors, who scoped out an iconic looking Legacy Stripe Tara hat and the Tattersall Julia hat with a vintage flair. For the occasion, Kim sported a chic pill box hat she made with leftover Coach fabric. "I designed the collection and all I got were these scraps," she joked. "This took me 15 minutes to make, it's like microwave accessories."
For fall, Krakoff and Kim have designed another capsule collection in warmer luxurious materials like raw felt and cashmere that will hit stores this summer. But is there a full Coach ready-to-wear collection on the horizon? "Right now we're not sure. We're continuing to evolve the brand and we are always looking to do things that are unexpected to keep people excited," said Krakoff. "Anything's possible!"
