Celebrating the King of Sole

Christian Louboutin toasts his exhibit at the Museum at FIT

(NEW YORK) Christian Louboutin hit the Big Apple to revel in his Sole Desire exhibit at The Museum at FIT a mere 10 days before its closing date of April 19. Last night, he lectured a packed room of over 300 students before attending an intimate dinner hosted by Diane von Furstenberg--who delivered opening remarks--at Sant Ambroeus. His fans included Carolina Irving, Valerie Steele, Marie Malle, and Anh Duong. "This is so bizarre! I just saw this splendor for the first time this morning," exclaimed the celebrated shoemaker, who, like his host, is a Capricorn. "This is the first time I'm exhibiting my work, and I feel like I'm actually learning. I love that people are taking everything in not just from consumer perspective, but for viewing pleasure as well. You can't buy it all, but you can look and learn!"

Guests like von Furstenberg, Marchesa's Keren Craig, Hamish Bowles, and Anne Slowey attended a small champagne reception for the display of red soles, where the CFDA president, who recently developed her own line of namesake shoes, professed her particular kinship with Louboutin. "Christian is just such a big part of my life," she said. "You can't even describe someone you love this much. And of course this display is fantastic. But I've been saying that I have my very own Louboutin museum in my bathroom!"

Luckily for other addicts, Louboutin hasn't finished spreading his love. He'll attend the Costume Institute gala on May 5, and on April 30, Barneys chief Howard Socol will join von Furstenberg to host a dinner for the haute cobbler, followed by a trunk show and personal appearance at the retailer's Madison Avenue flagship the following day.
