Political Tee Party

Hillary and Obama duke it out on eBay

(NEW YORK) After gauging the results of the Democratic primaries on Tuesday, political aficionados wishing to assess each candidate's popularity need look no further than eBay. Apparel featuring the faces of Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama is climbing in value. Marc Jacobs created a limited-edition Clinton T-shirt to raise funds for her campaign that, though originally $38 at his boutiques, is now fetching upwards of $54.82 on eBay. The 900 limited-edition Obama Progress tees designed by graffiti artist Obey, meanwhile, were distributed for free at his rallies but are now selling for an average price of $381.39 on eBay.

"Once again, Marc Jacobs and eBay are in the white-hot center of what's going on; usually it's fashion, this time it's politics," said eBay style director Constance White. "It's great to see a designer so engaged and Marc is a longtime Hillary supporter, but since this is politics we wanted to give equal time. Obama T-shirts are also on fire. I love the picture of Hillary on the shirt. Let's hope that if she gets to the White House, she'll be wearing Marc Jacobs--that'd be fab!"
