How Much Are You Worth?
(NEW YORK) The president has approval ratings and magazines have ad rates. But judging a celeb's popularity is a bit more complex.
That's why we're fascinated by the latest star feud, currently happening on eBay-yes, eBay. In the last lap of the epic 7th on Sale, dresses from the closets of Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, and many more US Weekly favorites hit the auction block.
After heated bidding, Ms. Simpson's Donna Karan dress (worn on VH1's Divas Live) fetched the most money: $4,438 for HIV/AIDS charities. But the singer/actress/divorcée only got 32 bids on her frock, while Jennifer Lopez's Dolce & Gabbana gown had 50 bidders foaming at the mouth, eventually raking in $3,686.76. Jennifer's iconic jungle-print Versace dress fetched a slightly lower price-$3,250-but still beat out a Ralph Lauren number donned by Ms. Lohan, which sold for nearly $1000 less.
More love (and loss) by the numbers: Naomi Campbell was the only other celebrity whose dress (by Carlos Miehle) topped $2000; Debra Messing's Donna Karan gown received the fewest bids; and one Christina Aguilera fan scored a bargain with a gown for the lowest final bid: $475.
Fortunately, when it comes to fabulous charity donations, everyone's a winner!
