Heather Thomas toasts Tinseltown with her new novel Trophies
Wednesday, May 07, 2008

(LOS ANGELES) Tuesday night's launch party of Heather Thomas' debut novel Trophies was held in the shoe department of Barneys New York in Beverly Hills. After all, the first chapter of her book is set in that same footwear mecca. Thomas and her entourage of Hollywood's Most Powerful (like Jamie Tisch, Rebecca deMornay, Gigi Levangie-Grazer, Jeanie Wolf, Michael Levine, Mark Alan-Harmon, Peter Bart, Catherine Bach and Sid Sheinberg) are no strangers to upscale shopping. "I just bought four pairs of Christian Louboutins while waiting for Heather to get here," laughed Levangie-Grazer, who is coming out with a new novel of her own, Queen Takes King, in the fall. "I have been nagging her to write this forever. It shows that we're not just gorgeous, but we're powerful!"

"It was a really fun, goofy thing for me to do," laughed Thomas. "I knew I had to write a book because the characters kept talking in my head and they wouldn't shut up. I had to get them out of there!"

Sipping champagne and nibbling on sliders and tuna tataki bites, guests lauded Thomas's efforts to lift the veil of L.A.'s most notorious. "At the core, it's a story of the strength of women who are powerful by virtue of who they are married to," explained Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, who worked on the book with Thomas. "But these women are trying to do good for a lot of important causes."

Fresh from Monday night's Costume Institute Ball in New York, Tisch was quick to get her hands on a copy. "I haven't read it yet, but I have no doubt that it will be naughty and fun!"
