Sex and the City premiere covered in crystals

(NEW YORK) Sex and the City may have enjoyed its first premiere in London, but tonight, when Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall arrive at Radio City Music Hall for the film's Manhattan debut, the foursome will be showered in crystals. Swarovski has provided over $500,000 worth of its wares to be used in the décor for the hotly-anticipated premiere. Expect to walk on over 10,000 crystals on the pink carpet.

At the after party at the Museum of Modern Art's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, the sparkles will continue. Over 500 crystal heart ornaments that will adorn the trees in the garden, while a Blossom chandelier comprised of over 1,000 pink and green crystals will loom large. A crystal encrusted sofa by Edra, covered in over 1,000 crystals and worth more than $100,000, will be a centerpiece, as will a 12 x 8 foot crystal curtain with 160 stands of crystal (for a total of 7,240 crystals. More than 30 crystal lanterns will be used to adorn the tables, while fuchsia crystals will adorn the DJ booth and a giant Kiosque bag sculpture and Silex vases will be displayed on the bars. Waiters passing hors d'oeuvres will carry trays featuring the Sex and the City logo made entirely of Swarovski crystals as well.

Swarovski also plays a role in the flick that opens nationwide Friday. Three signature Swarovski creations are featured in the film, including the Nirvana ring, the Kiosque bag and the Era bag.  Crystallized Swarovski Elements are also featured on the cell phone, wedding veil and wedding parasol of Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw.
