Kaiser Rock
Karl's CD release party
Tuesday, October 10, 2006
(PARIS) Kate Bosworth,
Katie Holmes, and
Erin Fetherston may all have been partying it up in the VIP room at Friday night's celebration for
Karl Lagerfeld's
Les Musiques Que J'aime mixed-CD release, but it was the slightly under-the-radar
Cat Power that left the biggest impression: the rocker has been tapped to be the new face of Chanel's jewelry collections. "I saw her in New York in front of the Mercer Hotel and she was smoking and I said, 'Only a woman-she-can look glamorous while smoking,'" Lagerfeld said as he made a fashionably late entrance with
Lady Amanda Harlech,
Ingrid Sischy,
Stephen Gan, and
Sandy Brant. As for his CD-his first, no less-the designer cited the obvious. "Fashion and music, they're one and the same," he offered.
The party, which was co-hosted by French Vogue, drew a crowd of fashion A-listers seeking a bit of refuge from the Fashion Week madness. Bosworth cozied up to Dsquared designers Dean and Dan Caten while Ellen Von Unwerth, Melanie Ward, Angelica Cheung, and Irina Lazareanu mingled about. Even Don Johnson and Jackie Chan made cameos, not realizing they had inently sauntered into a fashion party (upon recognizing that they'd not be able to enjoy themselves in privacy, they turned right around and left). Carine Roitfeld, meanwhile, waited patiently on the steps for Lagerfeld to arrive. Turns out there was a reason she forewent relaxing in the lounge area. "I just had a Thai massage," she said. "My back is killing me and I can't sit down."
