Linda Wells Toasts Kate Hudson

Fabulous fashion dinner at Schrager's Gramercy Park Hotel

(NEW YORK) A special treat of the fashion/culinary/architectural kind greeted 35 VIP guests that attended Wednesday night's dinner hosted by Linda Wells in honor of Allure August covergirl Kate Hudson at Ian Schrager's new Gramercy Park Hotel. "This is the first event anyone's ever had here and they had to build a kitchen for tonight" Wells quipped. "Ian said, 'it won't be ready the day before, Linda, but it will be ready as guests arrive.'"

Sure enough, the crowd that joined Wells and a stunning Hudson-who wore a lace bodysuit underneath her white Gucci pantsuit-for the sit down dinner in the hotel's Rose Bar were not disappointed. Liv Tyler, Genevieve Jones, Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez, Anna Sui, Aby Rosen, Francesco Clemente, Sante D'Orazio, and Jimmy Fallon all dined surrounded by artwork by the likes of Julian Schnabel and Picasso (the Andy Warhol and Cy Twombly pieces were unfortunately still wrapped up, much to the disappointment of Aby Rosen).

But no matter, because talk, especially between Wells, Hudson, and Tyler-all mothers with sons, coincidentally enough-quickly turned to chit chat about being able to finally go on vacation without the need for a nanny and the disappointment of having no one to give their fabulous shoes, bags, and clothes to later on. "It's still really good to be a mother of a son though," Wells reassured, before gesturing to the You, Me and Dupree star and gushing, "She's such a girl's girl, and such a guy's girl."

Clearing, being a girl's girl worked out, because Hudson couldn't help but wax poetic over her Allure shoot. "I loved doing all those fashion poses, playing a model, and vamping it up," she said. Her favorite look from the shoot? A double-page spread with her in a Gucci gown. "They should use it as a Gucci ad," she purred.

Wells' hosting duties aren't done for the summer, however. Tomorrow she and her husband will host the likes of Francisco Costa, Matt and Annette Lauer, Darren Aronofsky, Trey Laird, Carlos Souza, and Patrick Demarchelier at their annual clambake in Southampton.
