A Moment with the November 2009 Issue of Gotham

The high society bible answered our burning questions
Thursday, November 12, 2009

(NEW YORK) Given that high society is a cause near and dear to The Daily's heart, we caught up with the November 2009 issue of Gotham this weekend over bang bang chicken salad at Tao to learn who's haute now. When it comes to insider savvy, from David Widjaja to George Hamilton, this regional glossy delivers.

You have 13 interns listed on your masthead. What's that like?
It's heaven, thanks. Do you know how much photo researching we do? Keeping up with Kathy and Rick Hilton alone is a full-time job.

How many times have you featured Richard and Sessa in Binn Shots?
When those two stop looking so downright adorable, then I'll stop. Until then, keep counting.

So who is this Lauran Walk you picture? We thought her name was Lauren.
Ah! We need more interns!

Is Lisa Pliner really, as you say, a designer to the stars?
Google her. All the right ones are in her orbit.

You refer to Jon Gosselin's lawyer, Michael Heller, as a "class act." Is this meant to be ironic?
Hardly. Heller is a savvy guy with a super-hot wife. A gentleman and a scholar. Look, I mean what I say. Steve Madden is a "rock star." Jonathan Cheban really is "the inner sanctum of the A-list." Do you disagree?

Not at all! Is David Widjaja a real person?
Zachary Quinto doesn't look that fabulous on his own, darling.

Why don't you ever post the dates on your party pages?
Do you think the interns can keep it all straight?

Christian Audigier's ad pages are everywhere. Which do you prefer--his wines or his fragrance?
I actually like to mix them.

You book amazing celebrity covers. We adore Jay-Z!
It's all about personal relationships--anyone I feature will tell you that. Tracy Anderson sometimes helps.

How could you miss the opportunity to feature both George Hamilton and Barbara Sturm, equally orange, and not ask them what self-tanner they're using? We need to know immediately!
Really? We thought Barbara was more on the tangerine side.

Which headline do you like best?
It's a tie between "Two Weeks of Sneaks" and "Strike a Pose." "Cool Under Fire" is pretty good, too.

We were sure you'd go for "How Unik."
