The Missing Persons Report
(PARIS) As couture winds to a close, The Daily reflects on those missing in action.
INGRID SISCHY and SANDRA BRANT: These front-row fixtures have missed couture seasons in the past, and now that they're working on the international editions of both Vanity Fair and Vogue, it's no wonder a busy schedule keeps them hors Paris. Pauvre Karl is missing two key members of his entourage...perhaps all will reconvene at the Kaiser's manse in Biarritz?
DITA VON TEESE: The ultimate fashion Teese has won The Daily's front row derby for several seasons running. Don't tell us that the frantic RTW schedule she endured in Milan and Paris last February has turned this couture aficionado off of fashion week? Another theory: budget cuts.
LINDA, KEN, STEPHANIE, ROOPAL and JULIE: The retailers serve as fashion week's voice of reason, and without the fashion offices of Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's and Barneys, well, it's like high school without the student council. And where shall journalists go for their sound bytes?
ALEXANDRA SHULMAN: The British Vogueitrix features plenty of couture in her pages--well, a story a season, at least. Although The Daily has spotted some deputies, there's no sign of le chef. Could she be riding her bike to Vogue House as we type, closing that hefty September issue? The heavens may tremble.
JOANNA COLES: Granted, Marie Claire doesn't shoot couture, but c'mon, Cathie--the front row is jonesin' for a dash of JoCo. Who will keep the American press section entertained? Under the serious expression, this sassy editrix's witty banter itches to express itself. Next season, please!
GLENDA's DEPUTIES: This time last year, Harper's Bazaar beat Vogue in terms of manpower, but this season, it's just Glenda, Stephen Gan, and a few choice members (one apparently preteen) of the Bailey familias. Without Nicole Fritton and Kristina O'Neill, well, le chef stands alone!
STEFANO TONCHI: We've never known him to miss even the most far-flung fashion week--so why no couture? In fact, seulement Cathy is representing the Times Company--no Anne Christensen or Karla Martinez in sight. A propos de T, qu'est-ce que ca veut dire?
ANNA WINTOUR: The absence is unprecedented, but surely, she has an excellent reason.
