Natural Wonder
(NEW YORK) CFDA president, The City fixture and designer Diane von Furstenberg is ready for her close-up--the mogul was photographed by Lorenzo Aguius for the February cover of Town & Country. (Appropriately, the issue is themed "Wonder Women.") Von Furstenberg is profiled by Leslie Bennetts alongside fellow visionaries Michelle Obama, Suze Orman and Tina Fey. Editor-in-chief Pamela Fiori wrote the Obama feature, while Lynn Sherr profiled Orman and Heidi Mitchell took on Fey.
This marks von Furstenberg's second cover of the magazine--she first graced Town & Country in 1972. These days, the 62-year-old designer is more revealing than ever. "I had fun with men," von Furstenberg recalled of her younger years, when she was spotted around town with the likes of Richard Gere and Ryan O'Neal. "I was a very, very big huntress. I wanted to show, Why can't we do this? Why can only men do this?" These days, von Furstenberg is content to enjoy her own brand of family life. "Barry respects me so much," she said of husband Diller. "We don't live together during the week, although we go out together. I live on top of my shop; he lives at the Carlyle hotel. It doesn't feel strange at all. I just need a little bit of space. If I can't be alone a little bit, then I lose myself--and I cannot lose myself."
The February issue of Town & Country appears on newsstands today.
