Hindmarch's Hampers
Tuesday, November 04, 2008
(NEW YORK) How charming! Anya Hindmarch was tired of receiving holiday gift baskets (known as "hampers" in Britain) filled with mincemeat and other less-than-desirable goodies, so she teamed up with Selfridges to create her own. "I have always been fascinated by hampers, their history and Britishness, but am always disappointed by yet another basket whose contents I don't actually want to keep," Hindmarch said. "When Selfridges asked if I wanted to design a hamper, I leapt at the idea of not only designing a hamper, but choosing what I would really like to receive in one." On that note, she concocted a slew of themed baskets. "Mother's Ruin" comes with cookies, rubber cleaning gloves, and a bottle of gin, while "New Year, New You" is filled with detox supplements, a jump rope, and a bottle of champagne. Each hamper includes a cracker with a chance to win an Anya Hindmarch handbag as well as a luggage tag that can be personalized with a message in the giver's handwriting. The hampers will be available in all Selfridges stores and online at selfridges.com starting now.
