Thakoon's DNC Credit

(NEW YORK) While other first ladies and political women often sport the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera, Michelle Obama has taken to the rising stars. Last night, Obama wore a printed Thakoon dress adorned with three Erickson Beamon broaches as her husband delivered his nomination acceptance speech. It's a big coup for Thakoon Panchigul, who was recently approved for membership in the CFDA. "I am incredibly honored that Michelle Obama chose to wear a dress from my collection on such a historical night for her, her family and this country," the designer said.

In other Thakoon news, the brand was set to show his Spring 2009 collection on Monday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Eyebeam, the same time Diesel Black Gold was scheduled in the Tents. The conflict had editors in a quandary, but rumor has it Thakoon has switched show time to 1:00 p.m.. But who needs a runway when your frocks can storm center stage?
