(NEW YORK) For those who have reason to be in Paris at the end of September, take note: there will be another attraction outside of those Lanvin and Balenciaga shows. Diane Pernet, fashion photographer, journalist, and style icon, is launching A Shaded View on Fashion Film, debuting at the Jeu de Paume museum on September 26. The three-day film festival will highlight Pernet's favorite fashion films, as well as international filmmakers, artists, photographers and designers whose short films were selected by a jury of professionals and personalities from the fields of cinema, art, fashion, and media.
"The idea of fashion in movement as opposed to a static photo series in a magazine has always intrigued me," said Pernet, who co-edits ZOO magazine when she's not working on her blog, ashadedviewonfashion.com. "My studies were in film and later I became a fashion designer for 13 years. The link has always been there."
The festival will include documentaries, including films on Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, fictional films, like Guy Maddin's The Saddest Music in the World, which stars Isabella Rossellini, and more abstract presentations of fashion photography. Stuck stateside for the festival? Ne vous inquiétez pas. The film festival plans to be on the move for the next 12 months, so look out for it in a city near you.
