Tuesday, August 05, 2008

(NEW YORK) Tod's is becoming a formidable presence in the celebrity-fueled fashion scene. On Friday, Tod's and Baby Buggy held a summer luncheon, hosted by Jessica Seinfeld and creative director Derek Lam at the Seinfeld's home in Amagansett. Guests previewed the  Mommy bag, a functional nylon tote that will hit stores in November. Gwyneth Paltrow, Kelly Ripa and the hostess all purchased one before leaving with a pair of Tod's iconic driving shoes. The gift was particularly apropos, as come September the brand will relaunch a limited edition version of the classic JP Loafer. The remake will feature colors and materials that originated in 1978, when the brand launched.

And come September, Paltrow, face of the Fall/Winter 2009 campaign, will be heading to Italy. On the 24th, she will be the guest of honor an event with Tod's president and CEO Diego Della Valle during Milan Fashion Week.  The party will celebrate The Pashmy Movie, which stars Paltrow and was directed by Dennis Hopper. This isn't the first time Paltrow is toasting with Tod's. In May, she attended a similar fête at Cannes to premiere her film short for the fashion house.
