Topshop's New Generation sponsorship brings designers to London Fashion Week
Thursday, June 19, 2008

(LONDON) London Fashion Week is getting plenty of new talent--while still hosting all the favorites. Thanks to the British Fashion Council's New Generation sponsorship, which is supported by Topshop, 20 talented designers from the UK will have either their runway show or exhibition stand supported at London Fashion Week in September 2008.

The retailer will be sponsoring the runway shows for Louise Goldin, Danielle Scutt, MeadhamKirchhoff, House of Holland and Peter Pilotto. This marks the return of Henry Holland's designs to the British runway, as well as Pilotto's inaugural appearance. The chosen exhibitors include Anna Vince, Borba Margo, Cooperative Designs, David David, Emilio de la Morena, Felder.Felder, Hannah Marshall, Krystof Strozyna, Mary Katrantzou, Matthew Cunnington (known as Untitled), Nicholas Kirkwood, Poltock & Walsh, Sandra Backlund and Simone Shailes.

Since New Gen's inception in 1993, designers including Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald, Boudicca, Sara Berman, Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders and Christopher Kane have benefited from the BFC's generosity. This year marks Topshop's 14th consecutive season supporting the initiative. "This season, we are as excited as ever about the level and quality of work emerging from new young designers in London," said Mary Homer, managing director of Topshop. "And especially notable is the individuality and craftsmanship demonstrated in the designers' work."
