Plus! Ferragamo goes black and white for fall

(NEW YORK) Fall is gearing up to be a season of supermodels.

Marc Jacobs is the latest designer to eschew celebrities for fall, tapping Stella Tennant and Kirsten Owen to star in his upcoming campaign. He joins the ranks of Prada, Versace, YSL, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Escada, all of whom are using famous catwalk faces.

For Salvatore Ferragamo, Mario Testino shot two exceptional fashion celebrities: Claudia Schiffer and Roberto Bolle. The German supermodel, "La Diva" and the face of Ferragamo for the last three seasons, is joined for the first time by "L'Etoile," or Bolle, at the Teatro "La Scala" in Milan.

Testino, who produced the photography for the brand's previous campaigns, evokes sophisticated atmospheres that illustrate the Ferragamo brand through shots of the glossy life of a real star of yesteryear. The black and white photos, seven of which will run in fashion and lifestyle titles this fall, were shot in a historical location of great prestige: the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. The star is depicted going backstage to meet the famous dancer. Bolle, who danced in Shanghai during Ferragamo's 80th anniversary celebration, plays the part of himself, an ambassador of Italian culture.

Kate Moss, meanwhile, is reprising her role as the face of Donna Karan Collection. Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, last season's Havana-inspired "Nueva York" motif has been replaced by the elegance and mystique of the Orient Express. (In reality, the images were shot at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.)

Aside from Karan's garments, the designer's recently-launched handbag collection is prominent. "From the day I opened Donna Karan, we've always had a bag collection," said Karan. "For me, it was a head-to-toe design question, just like I designed hosiery and shoes. You can't put together a look without thinking about the bag a woman will carry with it."
