Montblanc Goes (Eva) Green
(LONDON) On Sunday, Eva Green was named an international Montblanc Ambassadress for Montblanc jewelry and watches. In her new role, Green will star in a worldwide Montblanc ising campaign promoting both the products and craftsmanship of the brand as well as expressing Montblanc's ongoing commitment to charitable and cultural projects throughout the world. Green was on-hand at the Montblanc Sloane Street boutique to inaugurate a new Montblanc and UNICEF education initiative entitled "Meisterstück 149," which is taking place at numerous Montblanc flagship stores around the world. Personalities from entertainment, politics, culture, and business-149 in total-have pledged their time to spend an entire day in which they will sell a certain number of the Meisterstück 149 fountain pen. For every one of these classical pens sold, Montblanc will donate the sum of $149 to UNICEF education programs.
Following the ceremony, Green attended the British Academy Awards (the BAFTAS) clad in the precious Haute Joaillerie Set "Etoile de Montblanc" from the Montblanc jewelry collection. Green, a classic pianist and art aficionado, made her screen debut in 2002 in Bernardo Bertolucci's masterpiece and love letter to cinema The Dreamers. She went on to star in such films as Arsene Lupin and in Ridley Scott's epic film, Kingdom of Heaven. Green won international critical acclaim for her performance as Vesper Lynd in the James Bond flick Casino Royale, and has gone on to star as Queen Serafina Pekala in The Golden Compass, the first of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. This year, Green stars in Franklyn, a contemporary thriller which marks her return to independent cinema.
"It will be a pleasure to work with Montblanc to support its cultural initiatives and, in particular, its work with UNICEF," said Green, who is also the face of Dior's Midnight Poison fragrance. "Montblanc's ongoing dedication to cultural achievement and also its constant striving for perfect craftsmanship in all that it created reflects my own private passions."
