Harper's Bazaar's Déjà Vu

A March issue spread reenacts the infamous Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 show

(NEW YORK) Glenda Bailey has never shied away from showing fashion's lighter side--both through her witty one-liners and in the pages of Harper's Bazaar. In the March issue with Lindsay Lohan on the cover, however, the editrix cautiously took the latter to a new level, reenacting the nearly two-hour delay of the Marc Jacobs show last September. Bailey worked with Jacobs and his loyal team to reenact the memorably delayed evening, incorporating the actual industry heads that played pivotal roles in the ensuing drama. In addition to Jacobs himself and his business partner Robert Duffy, others featured in the 12-page feature photographed by Peter Lindbergh include Kate Waters, Jacobs's normally press-shy director of public relations, as well as the KCD team consisting of president Ed Filipowski, Kerry Youmans, Renee Barletta, and Julie Mannion.

Representing the front-row contingent is a visibly annoyed Helena Christensen (who, at 9:50 p.m., discovers she is wearing the same spring look as her seatmate and utters, "OMG, frock crisis, someone is so fired"), as well as Jacobs front-row regulars Allison Sarofim, Genevieve Jones, Cindy Sherman, and Kim Gordon, all looking bored or, better yet, half asleep at 10:49 p.m. Even one of Jacobs's Louis Vuitton nurses was thrown into the mix. That's not to say the magazine kept its own editors out of the fray, however. Melanie Ward and Kristina O'Neill (clad in Oscar de la Renta) are squeezed into the front row with looks of wearing-thin desperation on their faces. At least O'Neill, the magazine's fashion news and features director, was in good company: Stella, her 14-month-old baby daughter, sat patiently waiting for the show to start. And for those wanting a fashion credit, she was wearing Bonton.
