Runway Review
(NEW YORK) CATHERINE HOLSTEIN
This season, Catherine Holstein's divine muse was pop art, especially the Surrealist work of Joan Miró. The collection was an extravaganza of abstract prints and yellow, red, blue, and black--but despite its artsiness, the pieces were incredibly feminine and wearable. So chic--down to the geeky librarian glasses models were sporting!
ELIE TAHARI
Elie Tahari's collection was the living embodiment of a fizzy champagne cocktail--cosmopolitan, urban, luxe. He showed the casual look of the season--slouchy, wide-leg trousers paired with jewel-toned turtlenecks and a crisp, belted cardigan. Must-haves also included slim, slinky pieces like a purple jersey dress and a high-waisted pencil skirt--but it was the staggeringly chic rabbit fur wrap coat that left editors breathless.
HEART TRUTH
The Heart Truth celebrated its sixth year at Fashion Week with a celeb-studded showing in the Tents. Twenty of Hollywood's most stylish stars--including Molly Sims, Heidi Klum, Maria Menounos, Joss Stone, and Sara Ramirez--stalked the catwalk in exquisite crimson confections by top designers like Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg, Tracy Reese, and Oscar de la Renta. Liza Minnelli ended the show with a rendition of "New York, New York." Fabulous gowns for a fabulous cause!
RACHEL ROY
Rachel Roy was clearly in a lady-of-the-manor-meets-Dorothea Lange kind of mood, pairing raw, nubby Southwestern textures with elegant jacquards, satins, and tulle. But the genius lay in her accessories--especially the oversized, über-funky feathered necklace Roy paired with everything from a pumpkin satin frock to a tailored, printed shell, not to mention her newly designed Manolo Blahnik shoes.
