Alberta Ferretti's Beauty Business
(NEW YORK) Elizabeth Arden, Inc. has entered into an exclusive long-term global licensing agreement with Aeffe S.p.A. for the development, marketing, and distribution of fragrance, cosmetics, and skincare products with Alberta Ferretti, the company announced this morning.
A debut fragrance is planned to launch in Spring 2009 in Europe first before coming Stateside. The scent will be followed by a cosmetics line and skin care products. Elizabeth Arden will produce and market the fragrance collections with creative direction for the scents to come from Alberta Ferretti herself.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Alberta Ferretti is an icon in the world of fashion design, and we are thrilled to be working with her to create a fragrance line that reflects the sensibilities of her style," said E. Scott Beattie, chairman and chief executive officer of Elizabeth Arden, in a statement. "Adding the Alberta Ferretti name to our designer fragrance brands allows us to diversify our fragrance brand portfolio and strategically expand our reach of prestige fragrance distribution, particularly in the European fragrance market."
The Milan-based Ferretti is known worldwide for her exquisite and ethereal gowns, a favorite of Winona Ryder, Diane Kruger, Debra Messing, and Marisa Tomei's. Her feminine style is both sensual and contemporary at once, and complements her client's personality by enhancing her beauty with exquisite tailoring and fine details.

This is Ferretti's third license. As reported, Ferretti announced plans to introduce a new eyewear line with Elite Group S.p.A at the Mido eyewear exhibition in Milan this May. Additionally, Ferretti has a license with Gant for the production and distribution of the children's wear line, Alberta Ferretti Girls.
