Christopher Kane's Conundrum

Studio burglarized and collection pieces stolen

(LONDON) Christopher Kane's studio was broken into late Saturday evening. According to the designer, at around 11:20 p.m., an intruder entered his East End studio and stole 23 collection pieces, primarily Johnsons Cashmere and leather works, in addition to a company laptop. On their way to the Scotland Style Awards, Kane and his sister Tammy momentarily stopped at the studio to pick up a battery charger and observed that the lights were on.

"Knowledgeable as to both the combination and security codes to both security doors, the intruder walked past a fully equipped photography studio to Kane's design space," a company statement read. The crime squad was called, but no fingerprints were detected. "Naturally I am devastated that this has happened" said Kane. "We are all shaken by the break-in and the fact that someone has invaded my private work space and taken precious show pieces so close to fashion week, although I do realize it could have been a lot worse."

While it is unfortunate that the incident occurred a week before the start of London Fashion Week, Kane said he is confident that he and his team will have the collection recreated by their show date on September 17.

Kane, through his public relations firm, requested that anyone who knows anything about the events of Saturday night come forward, or that those involved please return any of the missing clothing, which bears no significant value to them.
