Baubles for Chris Benz
(NEW YORK) Chris Benz will benefit from a little extra bling this season. The well-received designer is collaborating with Lulu Frost founder and jewelry designer Lisa Salzer for his Spring 2008 fashion show, creating a capsule collection of jewelry inspired by the Manhattan cityscape that will be shown on the former's runway and will be incorporated into the latter's spring collection. Specifically, the pieces will incorporate Rwandan beads made by refugee women from recycled magazine paper, which benefit an organization called Women For Women. Lulu Frost translates aged, discarded, and unusual items into polished, modern jewelry. The company is best known for its unique pieces from found period antiques, including long-lost room numbers from the Plaza Hotel, cut steel shoe buckles from the 1860s, watch fobs, rare charms, and other resurrected finds that are then translated into a coveted assortment of jewelry.
