Alber Elbaz's Long Engagement
Monday, July 09, 2007
(PARIS) Alber Elbaz has gone into full bridal mode. The Lanvin designer, who created his first capsule collection of bridal designs this season, is now dabbling in the world of fine jewelry as well. Stanislas de Quercize, president and chief executive officer of Van Cleef & Arpels, revealed at the Elie Saab show last Wednesday that Elbaz has been working on a one-off prototype engagement ring for the iconic jeweler. The ring, which will be available by special order this fall, is said to feature a simple band with a pearl on top and a diamond on the bottom, set on a mechanism that allows it to rotate. The ring will also feature a Marguerite flower, named after and inspired by Jeanne Lanvin's opera-singer daughter and former director of the Lanvin fashion house. "Alber's extremely talented and we like that," de Quercize said." Couture is ephemeral and it's a celebration of high fashion."JIM SHI
