Thursday, May 15, 2008

(NEW YORK) As "Nina-gate" simmers down with the news that Nina Garcia will join Marie Claire as fashion director on September 2, Robbie Myers, vice president and editor in chief of Elle, today officially announce that the former Elle fashion director has been named editor at large through Sept 1.

Garcia, who spent 13 years at Elle, will participate in Season 5 of Project Runway as editor at large--which Fashion Week Daily first surmised would be her temporary title--and remain as the magazine's representative judge throughout the filming of the season, prior to joining Hearst.

"Nina is admired by a large television audience on Project Runway who tune in to see Nina and her fellow judges decide who's in and who's out," Myers said in a statement. "She's made a real contribution to the program's success as a top show."

Garcia, in a statement, said, "I'm happy to continue my association with Elle while focusing on my role on Project Runway. I'm also working on my second book which will be out this fall." The book, entitled The One Hundred, will be published by Harper Collins and breaks down the 100 must-haves every woman needs to own in her wardrobe.

And, you guessed it, no word on the fate of Season 6. Stay tuned.
