PETA's Prada Reversal
Monday, February 26, 2007
(MILAN) Not 24 hours after a PETA Europe member stormed the Prada runway last Tuesday evening, the animal rights group pulled an attitudinal 180°, even sending two dozen red roses to Miuccia Prada after the designer declared she was "bored with fur." Prada's Fall/Winter 2007 collection contained no real fur for the first time in years, with faux fur instead adorning much of the collection. Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, and Vivienne Westwood are among other designers who have also gone fur-free. "Prada's new 'fake classic' collection is the beginning of the end for carcass couturiers," said PETA Europe director Poorva Joshipura.
