(NEW YORK) Shoe-guru Steve Madden is up to his old tricks-and some new ones as well. After proclaiming his home 'hood of Queens as the next fashion capital, Madden's next move is creating a line of "choose your own adventure" shoes. Through his website, www.SteveMadden.com, shoe addicts can choose from 4,221 possible combinations with varying degrees of heel height, materials, and color choices. The collection, which Madden has dubbed 'Design Your Own,' is made available through KOMPO e-commerce solutions.

Steve Madden sees the move as a competitive step, allowing his customers to take on the coveted role of designer. "The wearer is always some of my best inspirations," he said in a statement. "Even though everybody looks at designers and celebrities' example, fashion is a personal choice. It should really belong just to you."
