Monday, May 12, 2008

(NEW YORK) Despite a report that surfaced in London over the weekend that pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor would replace Kate Moss as the global ambassador for Rimmel, Coty Inc. reaffirmed its relationship to the supermodel today, stating that Moss would remain the face of Rimmel for the foreseeable future.

"Kate Moss is a worldwide inspiration and leader in fashion and beauty, and has been an iconic face for Rimmel London," said Stephen Mormoris, senior vice president of Coty Beauty worldwide. "I am thrilled we are continuing our professional partnership."

The company went on to state that "because Rimmel London is one of the fastest growing cosmetic brands globally and reaching a significant critical mass in sales, Coty is considering other models to work alongside Kate Moss to reach new global markets in Asia, South America, and the Middle East."

Moss was named the face of Rimmel in April 2005, marking the first time in the beauty company's 174-year history that the brand chose one face to represent its products.
