Runway Report: Peter Som
Thursday, September 15, 2005
(NEW YORK) With all the Tinsleys and Zanis of the world peopling his front row, Som's position at the vanguard of new society designers is obvious. But, a predictable touch of brocade aside, that doesn't mean stiff cocktail suits and fishtail florals-quite the opposite. Light as a breath of summer air, Chantilly lace tops fluttered with handkerchief hemming over a pair of sexy sailor pants. Culottes were an easy option, as were the white ostrich feather skirts that made the most impact with the least baggage. The droolworthy finale delivered the sorts of dresses Olivier Theyskens adores, keeping the drama without the padded posturing."I think it was great, really beautiful, like a young Oscar."-Robert Burke, Bergdorf Goodman
