Gilt-y Pleasures
(NEW YORK) "At noon every day, I check both Gilt and Gilt Man!" enthused one (female) reveler Tuesday night at the Ace Hotel. Mission accomplished. The men's spinoff of ridiculously popular shopping site Gilt Groupe celebrated its launch last night--aligning quite appropriately with the CFDA's launch of the Assouline-published tome American Fashion Menswear. Attractive gents in Gilt-sponsored duds (by CFDA designers, bien sûr) lined the dual stairways of the lodge-like space while partygoers like Blake Mycoskie, Italo Zucchelli, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, and John Bartlett sipped champers and snacked on seared salmon and seriously upscale cheese puffs.
CFDA queen Diane von Furstenberg sailed in for her requisite photo op, though it was Steven Kolb who held down the fort, greeting the masses. Phillip Lim and Richard Chai stuck close comme toujours, and other guests parted from their cocktails momentarily to browse the book, penned by Robert E. Bryan with a foreword by Ralph Lauren. And while a few filles (like Ms. Von Furstenberg) came in and out, there was no doubt that this night was for the boys.
