Revolutionary Thinking
(NEW YORK) Retailers and editors are warier than ever of trucking frantically about town to catch all the young designers. Happily, People's Revolution is offering a solution by producing a group show for three of its clients on Sunday, February 15 in the Tents. Mara Hoffman, Nicholas K and Sergio Davila will present their Fall 2009 collections with a group show, thus allowing the fashion industry to view lines with increased efficienty. "I have always appreciated the importance of the Tents," said People's Revolution founder Kelly Cutrone. "The press is fixated on the story of how this upcoming fashion week is depleted, but that is clearly not true when you look at the calendar. What's changed now is that we, as an industry, are looking to the next generations of the Oscar de la Rentas and Carolina Herreras. A lot has changed since that generation of designers. They've built very respectable empires, but now, the task is to turn these younger brands 20, 30, 50, 100 million dollar businessess." Hoffman, Nicholas K designers Nicholas and Christopher Kunz and and Davila have completely different aesthetics, but Cutrone doesn't expect to encounter any personality problems. "They all get along really well," said Cutrone, "We took them out last night for drinks!"
