(NEW YORK) Bill Blass employees are rumored to expect pink slips any minute now, as parent company NexCen Brands Inc. makes a last-ditch effort to sell the company. Even as the business is liquidated, the Peter Som-designed clothing remains. In fact, the looks have earned increased visibility in their final resort season as starlets like Eva Mendes have been escorting the gowns to red carpets near and far.

While the line has disappeared from the e-commerce sites of retailers Bergdorf Goodman, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue, associates at both Bergdorf and Saks have confirmed that the collection is still available on the floors in their department stores. "We were sorry to receive the recent news, especially as Peter was beginning to hit his stride in re-invigorating the spirit of 'Blass,'" said Linda Fargo, Bergdorf Goodman's senior vice president, fashion office and store presentation. "Bill Blass left such a lasting impression, and was just so right for women who aren't about being perishably trendy. It's a New Year's wish that the we will be soon be eyeing another smart, chic Bill Blass collection in the near future."
