Dark Angels
(NEW YORK) The newest exhibit at the Museum at FIT is less upbeat than usual. Gothic: Dark Glamour, which is curated by Valerie Steele, will officially open on September 4 with a reception on the eve of New York's Fashion Week. Chic sunglass purveyor Ilori will serve as the sponsor for the six-month exhibition of gothic fashion.
It's an apropos partnership, considering Ilori is currently highlighting its Dark Angels collection, a curated batch of sunglasses celebrating gothic style. A pop-up boutique will hold court in the Museum at FIT the night of the event, inviting the crowd to try on the spirit. Frames from Alain Mikli, Badgley Mischka, Burberry, Chanel, Chloé, Fabien Baron, Lanvin, Prada, Proenza Schoulder, Ray Ban, Tom Ford and Zegna will be displayed. Partygoers will have the opportunity to preview and choose their frames the night of the event and then head over to the Ilori boutique in SoHo to make their purchase.
Following the opening, Steele will make appearances at Ilori boutiques in Los Angeles and Toronto, taking the exhibition's book and select fashions along with her for the fabulously grim ride.
