Beatles Mania to Hit Bloomie's
(NEW YORK) Get ready for little brown bags full of Strawberry Fields. As Bloomingdale's celebrates rock and roll for Holiday 2008, some of music's finest have found their way intoto the retailer's offerings. Enter the Beatles. What better time for a renewed obsession, given the popularity of the Love show in Las Vegas?
Bloomingdale's has retained the exclusive rights to Beatles images from Apple Records. Artwork from album covers, photographs, posters and promotional materials have been interpreted by Bloomingdale's favorite designers to create a variety of accessories and apparel. Marc Jacobs incorporated images into tees, while Theory lined a classic blazer with white Beatles silhouettes. Converse by John Varvatos created a "Let it Be" sleeveless gray hoodie, track jacket and denim jacket. Outpost Trading Company designed retro tees and Met View introduced a "Storm System" overcoat fit for Sergeant Pepper.
Additionally, an exclusive limited-edition Beatles iPod has been created, stocked with the band's classics. Only 100 will be available nationwide, making it one of the season's most challenging gifts to acquire. Since Beatles songs are not downloadable online--and you can never have enough "Hey Jude"--Bloomingdale's will also sell boxed CD sets.
To kick off the holiday theme, the store will precede the unveiling of their window displays with a surprise performance. On November 20, a classic Columbia Records icon will take center stage for a singular concert to build anticipation of what will likely be a very rocking season.
