On Target with Zac Posen
(NEW YORK) Following the frenzy experienced last March when Target stores in Australia released a limited capsule collection of designs by Stella McCartney, the retailer has tapped an American star to follow in her footsteps: Zac Posen.
The 27-year-old New York fashion darling, a favorite of Gwyneth Paltrow, Lucy Liu, Rihanna, and Uma Thurman's, will bring his red carpet looks to Target when they debut on April 3. "This range allows my clothes to be worn by a new customer, and I'm particularly happy that this could occur in Australia," said Posen.
Most recently, Katherine Heigl made international best dressed lists when she donned Posen's stunning white gown with fishtail hem at the Emmy Awards. Those wanting to step into the Grey's Anatomy actress's shoes will now have their chance: Posen has recreated the gown in red for Target. What's more, the dress comes at a fraction of the Hollywood price, at $299.99. And in an effort to drum up hype for the Posen range, only 50 of the Heigl dresses will be available, a Target spokeswoman confirmed. That makes it the most expensive item in the 20-piece limited-edition range, which starts at $49.99 for a belt.
Posen's collection for Target also includes fitted high-waisted pants and asymmetrical skirts with matching suit jackets, cocktail dresses with brocade trim, and elaborate shirts that echo the looks of his designer collection. "They're colorful prints balanced with more architectural and structural pieces," Posen said of the line.
And while McCartney's collection was offered in 100 Target stores, Posen's designs will be offered in a smaller run, being made available in only 75 of the 276 Target and Target Country stores.
