Jeans Jewelry
(NEW YORK) Designer denim and delectable jewels? According to Earnest Sewn and Van Cleef & Arpels, that's exactly what we can expect. The two brands have joined forces to create two styles of limited-edition jeans that will be exhibited in Earnest Sewn's Washington Street store and then sold at auction at Christie's.
Both jeans are in the Zazo style, a high-rise super-slim straight leg fit. Customized with the Alhambra design, the emblematic icon of Van Cleef & Arpels, the first style, which retails for about $9,700, is a dark indigo blue stretch denim finished with a white mother-of-pearl and yellow gold Alhambra button, miniature Alhambra rivets, and a 14" Alhambra chain that begins at the wearer's front right belt loop and attaches to a hand-crafted leather wallet fitting in the back right pocket. The second style is a soft, light grey stretch denim complemented by black onyx and white gold Alhambra motifs in the same design, which will retail for $11,300. Both jeans incorporate an outline of the Alhambra motif as a decorative stitch on the wearer's back right pocket. The Alhambra chain is removable and can be worn as a necklace or doubled around the wrist as a bracelet.
With less than 10 of each style currently projected, each jean will be numbered and signed as a true collector's item. The collaboration will be toasted at a party at Earnest Sewn on Washington Street on February 11.
