(NEW YORK) Half a dozen First Ladies just can't be wrong. Leiber (or Judith Leiber in its former incarnation), a staple in the White House since the Reagan administration, has been named the most prestigious handbag brand in the 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey from the independent New York-based Luxury Institute. Hermès and Prada came in second and third places, respectively. The findings are based on a national sample of 783 high-net worth consumers with an average income of $305,000 and an average net worth of $2.2 million that were surveyed online. In particular, Leiber scored highly with women over age 45 with net worths in excess of $5 million. The top three brands were culled from a list of 26 handbag brands that included other top-tier labels like Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Dior, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, and YSL.
