Boucheron's Sporty Baubles
(NEW YORK) For those of us who aren't in the throes of Fashion Week, there's another event that's bound to attract lots of attention: the World Rugby Cup. But rugby need not be unfashionable, as Boucheron proves. The French jeweler has created a collection of exclusive jewelry in homage to the sport for "L'Art Emmêlé 2007," a series of events organized around a contemporary art exhibition that gathers pieces inspired by rugby and in particular, the World Cup. The sporty bijoux include a MEC watch in pink gold, a Diablotine men's ring in white gold with sapphires, and a Diablotine women's ring in pink gold and green tourmaline which was re-designed in the shape of a rugby ball.
In "L'Art Emmêlé 2007," rugby is depicted through images, paintings, sculptures, installations, and photography by renowned French and international artists, as well as fashion and Haute Couture designers. The first such event took place in Paris in 2003 during the Australian World Rugby Cup, while this year's event will be in the Hôtel de Crillon's salons and terrace, overlooking the Place de la Concorde, until October 20th. An auction and gala dinner to benefit the Laureus Fondation, a non-profit organization that uses the positive influence of sports to tackle society's most pressing challenges around the globe, will take place on October 18, where the Boucheron baubles will be auctioned off.
