In the Name of Charity
(LONDON) Jerry Hall has joined Daphne Guinness in putting a sizable share of her closet on the block.
The American supermodel and actress, perhaps best known relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, has relinquished 430 articles of clothing ranging from accessories, textiles dating from 1700 to 2000, and couture creations by Dior, Balmain, and Balenciaga, to benefit the Emmaus charity, which helps the homeless.
The auction will take place on June 10 at Sotheby's Olympia in London following a two-day exhibition.
Among the memorable pieces up for sale are designs by British designers Bruce Oldfield and Antony Price, including the wedding dress Hall wore for her nuptials to Mick Jagger in 1990. The dress is estimated to fetch between $600 and $1,000. Other curve-hugging, attention-getting ensembles include: the showgirl outfit worn by Hall in her acting debut in Bus Stop, estimated at between $800 and $1,200; a Thierry Mugler pink satin and cut velvet evening ensemble from the 1990s, estimated at between $900 and $1,200; and two Antony Price Lurex evening gowns, estimated at between $600 and $1,000.
"I have led a very glamorous life in many ways, but I know all too well how quickly lives can become derailed," said Hall. "I have been fortunate enough to have always had plenty of support, but not everyone is as lucky. It is easier than you might think to lose everything."
