Louis Vuitton - Resort 2009
(NEW YORK) LOUIS VUITTON
Given the myriad of colors that Marc Jacobs just loves to play with, his resort collection for Louis Vuitton focused on white as a key theme. Heavy on sportswear looks (specifically the tennis court), the collection featured sleek and sophisticated designs such as a nappa leather jacket, white satin top and A-line skirts. Jacobs collaborated with London-based artist Tanya Ling on a series of pieces that reinterpret summer’s nautical theme, evident in silk twill pieces printed with watercolor stripes. And given the brand’s roots in leather goods, Jacobs introduced two new lines--one revisiting the Monogram in fluorescent pink and orange neoprene, the second, using an archival logo from 1929 but updated in vivid pink and orange.
