Naeem Khan - Resort 2009
(NEW YORK) “Resort has easily become 40 percent of my business,” said Naeem Khan. And deservedly so. The designer’s resort collection, an eye-popping array of warm-weather garments combining strokes of modern art with the kitsch of Palm Beach, was infused with a touch of Africa, ideally suited for his traveling ladies. “These are reality clothes,” he explained. Those clothes resulted in exquisitely sequined skirts, caftans and dresses mixed with intricate threadworks—many boasting madeover prints hand sourced from India. While the silk-heavy collection was rich with vibrant shades of red, blue, green and yellow, Khan also showed an elegant assortment of black and white silk separates. Crystal belts accentuated the waists of most gowns while a chic tunic boasted a screen of overlapping tulips. Most stunning, however, was a long white gown studded with hundreds, if not thousands, of tiny beads of coral.
