Ports 1961 - Resort 2009
Designer Tia Cibani is well-known--and well-loved--for staging her resort presentations on the roof deck of her showroom with her annual Ports Patio Parties. Yesterday, she showed a 1950s-inspired collection entitled "The Good Life," dedicated to television icon Lucille Ball. Cibani's take on the era was a literal one: plenty of gingham, circle skirts, jacquards and taffetas, all in delectable hues of melba, marmalade, mint and tapioca. Twenty-five looks were sent down the astroturf runway, accompanied by the dandy tunes of The Loose Marbles, a band Cibani discovered when they were playing in Union Square.
