Donna Karan - Resort 2009
(NEW YORK) For Resort 2009, Donna Karan invoked the thrill of the escape. Inspired by the boudoir, the collection lauded effortless, feminine elegance. Fun and frilly--but far from froofy--the pieces mixed soft, airy silhouettes with more structured shapes. Playing with proportion, Karan used her flair to create an international aesthetic. The palette is a fresh bouquet of peony, rose, petal, nude, champagne and cerise, the kind any women would love to see on her doorstep. Heavy and light fabrics are used interchangeably, with stretch mikado, gabardine, taffeta, organza, georgette and chiffon dominating. Knots, bows, draping and touches of embellishment keep simple looks interesting. Overall, the collection conceals and reveals for a sense of ethereal flirtation.
